Pastor Diego Tabaquero: Seeking Great Things for God

On August 19, 1957, Carlos and Belen Tabaquero welcomed Diego (Jojo) Tabaquero to their already large and growing family. Living on the farm, Diego Tabaquero was quickly introduced to the hard life and was compelled to leave home and fend for himself at a young age in hope to attain a brighter future. His parents believed education was the key to this future.

Obeying his parent's wishes, he completed highschool and graduated as a merchant navy officer from the University of the Visayas. Away from home, he lived with some close family friends. It was in one of the homes, he got to meet and know a lady whom he later married, Soledad Domecillo. They have two children, Mahalia and Mydisol.

His wife was ultimately instrumental in leading him to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In the process of seeking a bright future, he found that education did not bring a bright future. He discovered that hope for life is only found in Jesus Christ.

After working 3 years at sea and achieving a third marine officer license, he took a step of faith by leaving this position and surrendered to serve the Lord in ministry. He attended Bible School at the Bible Baptist Seminary, Cebu City, for 4 years.

With his young family, he later migrated to Australia in 1987 and took up a different career path working in the computer industry for five years.

Over the years, God burdened his heart to start a mission work in Liverpool. He surrendered to the call and the mission work has now grown to Bible Baptist Church. Through the church, Bob Hughes Christian School was established.

He is curently Senior Pastor at Bible Baptist Church, Liverpool and Administrator of Bob Hughes Christian School. God has since been tremendously blessing the work for His sake despite the many trials that test faith.

Pastor Tabaquero likes to dream big things for God. One day he hopes that the school will branch out to a Preschool and a University. He is also looking forward to more branches of Bob Hughes Christian School being established around Sydney and in other states to provide more children the opportunity to discover that hope for life is not only found in education, but in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
